Abstract

Emisi gas rumah kaca (GRK) merupakan salah satu tantangan paling mendesak di zaman ini, yang mempengaruhi seluruh aspek lingkungan dan iklim global. Emisi ini menimbulkan tantangan lingkungan dan iklim yang signifikan. Pengelolaannya seringkali melibatkan pertimbangan yang kompleks, dan pengembangan instalasi pengolahan air limbah (IPAL) adalah salah satu contoh dari hasil yang bertentangan tersebut. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dan menganalisis potensi emisi gas rumah kaca dari air limbah kilang dan peluang pemulihan energinya . Metode yang digunakan dalam studi ini melibatkan analisis laboratorium parameter COD dan penerapan estimasi emisi berbasis IPCC. Berdasarkan Pedoman IPCC 2006 menggunakan pendekatan TOW dan EF, potensi emisi metana yang diperkirakan adalah 2.560.747,47 kg CH₄/tahun (setara dengan 3.576.888 m³ CH₄/tahun). Jika sepenuhnya dipulihkan dan dimanfaatkan, metana ini dapat menghasilkan sekitar 13,56 GWh listrik per tahun dengan efisiensi konversi 38%. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa air limbah kilang minyak memiliki potensi signifikan baik sebagai sumber emisi gas rumah kaca maupun sebagai sumber energi terbarukan, yang menyoroti pentingnya pengelolaan air limbah berkelanjutan dalam mengurangi emisi industri.
